Rules

Updated: 06/22/05
  • Numbers of races:
3 (all Michigan tracks) - see the Schedule.

  • Dropped races for overall series points tally:
All 3 races count toward the series (this may seem a bit strict, but see the "overall points series" calculation below).

  • Classes that count toward the series:
Only the following touring car (TC) classes will count towards the series:

    Stock TC
    19-turn TC
    Modified TC
    Nitro TC
Other classes may be raced on race day (such as onroad buggy, onroad truck, and F1), however they do not count toward the points series nor do they receive money payouts.

  • Car specification rules:
ROAR rules - Download the ROAR rules book

Addendums (these override the ROAR rules):
    - 19-turn class: fixed end-bell 19-turn motors new
    - rubber tire classes: Only TakeOff CS-27 pre-mounted tires allowed new
    - nitro TC class: only .12 size engines new

  • Race day tech: new
    - weight (scale to be provided by the MORL):
electric TC (rubber tire): 1525g (53.8 oz)
electric TC (foam tire): 1418g (50.0 oz)
         nitro TC: 1725g (60.8 oz)

    - tires for rubber tire classes: Only TakeOff CS-27 pre-mounted tires allowed

    - stock motor: ROAR legal 27-turn

  • Tire choices: foam or rubber:
    Nitro TC: foam tire only
Electric TC: rubber tire or foam tire (separate classes)

  • Cost per entry:
$10 (this will be in addition to whatever the track charges for their entry fee)

For example: if a track charges $10 for the 1st class and $5 for the 2nd class and you enter two classes, your total entry fees will be $20 + $15 = $35. This is only for classes that count toward the MORL series (ie: only touring car classes).

  • Race day payouts for each heat:
There will be a cash payout for the top-3 in every main (ie: A, B, C, D...) at each race. Payouts will be handed out after you finish marshalling the heat after the one you just participated in.

    - TQ payout for each class that has at least 8 entries: $20 (no TQ payout if less than 8 entries)

Finish position in heat Heat has 5 or more racers Heat has 3 to 4 racers total
    1st Place $25 $15
    2nd Place $15 $10
    3rd Place $10 $5

  • Race day prizes:
There will not be any race day prizes since we are doing money payouts. You will get bragging rights and the potential to win some cash at each of the races. :-)

  • Points calculation:
Points for each race calculation: sum of your best qualifying laps/time and your laps/time from the main.

Overall series points calculation: overall placement at the end of the series is based off of the sum of your laps/time for all 3 races. No dropped races.

  • Overall series payout:
Whatever money we have left over at each race will go the overall series payout fund. I would like everyone who participated to get some money, but that will depend on how much money is left over at the end of the series. Otherwise, money will be distributed among the top points of each class.
